Quotes, Mantras and Zoning Out the Bullsh*t

Dealing with injuries (even though thankfully minor) have been tough. Trying to stay mentally into everything takes a lot of effort. I like to turn to quotes and mantras to help keep me putting one foot in front of the other and zone out all the extra cr*p that is going on. Zoning out what the world says, what other people say and zoning out our toughest critics---Ourselves.

Even not dealing with aches and pains I like to read quotes and think about them on my runs. I've said before that some of my best thinking happens when I'm running and mantras/quotes give me that starting point to really zone out and just let my thoughts wander. I block out reality and just GO.

My All Time Favorite

"What am I training for? Life mother F*#$%&"

~Desi Linden

"Some men see things as they are and ask "Why?". I dream things that never were and ask, "Why not?"

~Robert F. Kennedy

"Never limit where running can take you. I mean that geographically, spiritually, and of course, physically."

~Bart Yasso

"Nothing, not even pain, lasts forever"

~Kim Cowart

"I love running because it's the one thing I do every day and never regret"

~Katie Mackey

Do it now.

Sometimes later becomes never.

Mantras I Repeat to Myself

You never thought you'd be here so just keep going and see how much further you can go.

One more step, one more stride, one more mile.

This will pay off if I put in the work.

If not now, then when?

If you can't keep going that's ok. But what if you are able to?

One more, all it takes is one more.

You may not be able to, but what if you can?

I am not a natural born runner, I'm not a stand out from high school or college and I may never break the tape at a race. But I am determined to get better, stronger and faster. The first step was just believing I could run.
